CASTROVILLARI

·       Protoconvento Francescano

E' stato il primo convento francescano costruito in Calabria, realizzato nel 1221 dal Beato Pietro Cathin, discepolo e compagno di San Francesco d' Assisi. Fu ospedale militare prima e caserma poi, la vecchia chiesa all' interno fu trasformata in teatro è sede del rinato Teatro Sybaris, del Museo civico archeologico, della Pinacoteca comunale di Andrea Alfano.

·         Franciscan protoconvent

It  was the first Franciscan convent built in Calabria, made in 1221 by Pietro Cathin the Blessed, disciple and friend of Saint Francis of Assisi. It was at first a military hospital and then a  jail. The old church situated inside it,  was transformed into a theatre and it houses the famous Sybaris Theatre, the Archeological Civic Museum, and Hall Gallery of Andrea Alfano.

 

Pinacoteca di Andrea Alfano

Andrea Alfano è un artista locale, scultore, pittore illustre e autore di poesie.

La Pinacoteca raccoglie più di 300 opere tra dipinti, disegni e sculture, dalle prime prove dell'artista di fine '800 agli ultimi dipinti di metà ''900. Alla città natale Alfano lasciò i quadri originariamente esposti nel suo studio.

  Gallery of Andrea Alfano

Andrea Alfano was a local artist, sculptor, famous painter and poet.

The Gallery collects more than 300 works including paintings, drawings and sculptures, from the first trials in the late 19th century  to the last paintings of the mid-20th century. In his hometown Alfano left the paintings at the beginning, showed in his studio.

Il Museo custodisce il patrimonio archeologico del territorio di Castrovillari e del suo circondario dalle epoche preistoriche fino all'alto medioevo; esso documenta la storia di quella interessantissima area che va dalla Sibaritide al Pollino.

The museum preserves the archaeological heritage of the territory of Castrovillari and its surrounding area from prehistoric times to the early Middle Ages; it documents the history of that interesting area from Sibaritide to Pollino.
